Chris Bogart's Shenandoah Special
Length: 9 and 1/2 feet
Line weight: 8 WF Bass Taper (Air Cell) 1st ferrule size
Here is the taper for the Shenandoah Special AKA "Big
Dog Rod" that I had at Grayling. I had a number of requests
for the taper. It is essentially a converted Leonard
Tournament Rod Taper that is in Kreider's book.It will
definately throw the line. I made it for fishing the
Shenandoah for smallmouth with poppers. I needed something
that would reach out and touch some fish. This does that. I
also took it out Sunday night and it behaved very well on
the Manistee fishing sulphers and latter size 10 / 12 Brown
Drakes. Both the mid and Butt can be midly hollowed fluted
to reduce weight. Overall I got it in at 5 and 1/4 oz. This
is a good rod for anyone to practice hollow fluting on.
